Tuesday, Aug. 9

We're almost done with our blogging unit! It's sad, I know.

Today we aren't creating anything new. Instead, you'll finish your posts from yesterday, then visit and comment on some of your classmates' blogs. Instructions are explained more after the page jump.

Monday's assignment

Happy Monday, everyone!

Last week we focused on designing our blogs and making our first posts. Today we will focus on how to make our posts look better.

Thursday's assignments

Happy Thursday, seniors!

We'll keep it simple today and do two things: Finish yesterday's post and surf the internet.

1. Finish your post. At the end of class yesterday, everyone should have saved what they'd typed of their post so far. To return to your post, select Edit Posts under the Posting tab. You can resume working on your post from there, selecting Publish Post when you are done. Remember, after publishing your post, comment under my "Tuesday's Assignments" post telling me that you're done.

2. Let's surf! The Web site http://technorati.com/ lists thousands of different blogs. Look through their "Top 100" and visit some blogs. Pay extra attention to the layout and the types of content. Comment on this post and tell me two of the blogs you visited. Click here to visit Technorati.

Tuesday's assignments

Good afternoon, students!

The new assignment for today is simple: Make your first post. Tomorrow we will look at the different tools you can use to make your post more interesting and easier to read, such as adding pictures, linking to other websites, or adding lists. We will also comment on each other's posts. Won't tomorrow be exciting?

Today's Tasks:

1. Finish yesterday's tasks. Continue where you left off yesterday. Remember, you aren't done until you comment on my "Monday's assignments" post. Simply scroll down to see yesterday's instructions.

2. Create a new post. Sir Glads will hand out your reflection papers. Type them in Microsoft Word, then copy and paste into your blog.

To make a new post, select the "Posting" tab. Under "New Post" you will see a box that looks very similar to Microsoft Word. That is where you enter your text.

Once you have written your post and given it a title, click the "Preview" button. If you are happy with the way your post looks, Publish it! If not, make your edits and then Publish.

3. Tapos! Comment on this post. Include your name, your blog's address, and the title of your post.

Monday's assignment

Hello, students!

You have three tasks for today: add two gadgets to your blog, follow at least five of your classmates blogs (and mine), and comment on this post when you are done designing your blog.

1. Adding Gadgets.
Gadgets are extra features you can add to your blog. They can include things like keeping track of how many people visit your blog,  adding a welcome message, or creating a fish tank on your page (look above this post).

To add a gadget, click the 'Design' tab after logging in. On the page template, you will see several boxes that say "Add a Gadget." Click, browse through the options, and add two gadgets. You add a gadget by clicking on the blue and white + button on the right.

2. Following Blogs
We care what our peers have to say. Tomorrow and Wednesday we will work on creating and commenting on posts. For now, we want to connect our blogs. We do this by 'following' each other's blogs.

To follow a blog, go to your dashboard (the page you see when you log onto your account. There is a link to it on the top right of your screen.). Scroll down to the "Reading List" and click "Add." Now type in the address of the blog you wish to follow. Mine is sagadatest.blogspot.com. Select follow publicly.

For today, follow at least five of your classmates blogs.

3. Tapos!
When you have completed those two tasks, finish designing your blog. Make sure you are happy with both the blog title and the way your blog looks. Then, add a comment to this post saying that you are done. You must include: Your name, your blog's address, and the two gadgets you added and why. For the 'Comment As' field, select GoogleAccount.

Wasn't that fun?
